The 1970s heralded the birth of modern glamour. From wide brimmed hats and endless chiffon sleeves, to hip-hugging denim and aviator shades, you’ll be pleased to hear the decade that gave us disco, Diane Von Furstenberg’s jersey wrap dress and the rock ‘n’ roll pin up is well and truly back.

For SS14, the spirit of the 70s returned to the runways in boogying style with the likes of Gucci, Proenza Schouler and Chloé delivering palazzo pants, platforms, centre partings, and a glittering trail of sequins. The Gucci show paid particular homage to the era with its abundance of fringing in the form of bamboo bags and uber-foxy Lurex dresses.

If you have a girl crush on Stevie Nicks, love a tasselled necklace and would embrace flares at the drop of an oversized sun hat, then your time is officially now, so channel your inner Amy Adams in American Hustle and experiment with cut-to-the-navel jumpsuits and softly curled hair. The LED dance floor is waiting.
