On July 21st select your flashiest outfit, brush your teeth, and get your make up on, as East London plays host to the first ever Photobooth Festival. Taking place on the iconic Columbia Road (host to the famous flower market every Sunday) this will make the Instagram craze seem silly, with real life booths spread around to photograph yourself with your friends.
Eight different handmade photo booths, from ‘Dinky Dub’ to ‘Discobooth’, will be installed for your unlimited use, alongside food, drinks, and music – with image styles ranging from Warhol-esque to cutting edge 3D portraiture. There’s even the Toddlerbooth – the world’s smallest booth designed especially for kids. Rough Trade DJs will provide music with their varied playlist of summer tunes.
The festival aims to celebrate and showcase the innovations that photographer Seamus Ryan (head of Boothnation and The Republic of Photography) have made on everyone’s favourite automaton. His made-from-scratch booths are highly sought after by big names such as Harvey Nichols and Chanel for their events.
