There’s no denying it, London is great for inventive eateries. With everything from bike cafes to cat cafes (yes, that’s right – just check out Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium) – it’s clear that The Big Smoke is the place to mix food and fun. So it comes as no surprise then, that there is a new kid on the cafe block, and it’s one that might spark both your physical, and competitive, hunger.
Draughts is a new cafe opening in Hackney this September, and is rumoured to be an Aladdin’s cave of board-games. But don’t you worry, this is nothing like your rainy stuck-inside-at-break-time memories. From classics like Chess and Draughts, to new offerings such as Zombicide and Game of Thrones, and of course family favourites, such as Cluedo and Monopoly – this place will have it all. To top it all off the cafe will be open from 11am and will serve coffee, cakes, milkshakes and sandwiches in the day, and ales, ciders and lagers in the evening. Board games just got grown-up.
Overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choice? Well fear not, as the brains behind this brilliantly simple, but surprisingly unique, idea have created a Game Board Tube Map on their website, with difficulty Zones and genre Lines to help you discover your perfect coffee shop game. So really, we’re all winners here.
