As if the upcoming Olympics, the Queens Jubilee, and current Wimbledon Tennis Championship weren’t enough, another glorious event is set to keep the limelight on the London. World Gay Pride is taking place across the city this coming Saturday, so expect our capital to be at its most glittery and fabulous.
Seeking to keep on reinforcing the campaign for equal rights, as well as raising AIDS awareness, WORLD PRIDE is expected to attract thousands to London, snatching the crown from Her Majesty and becoming queens for a day.
The event, which was rumoured to be cancelled earlier this week due to apparent poor funding, is still expected to go ahead as planned with a few minor tweaks. The usual parade will be replaced by a float-less march beginning on Baker Street and culminating at Whitehall. After you can choose to enjoy this year’s (slightly disappointing) line-up at Trafalgar Square, head to Soho where you’ll be greeted by a massive street party, or head down to any of the squares around central for a relaxed day out with the beloved queers.
