Adjustable Lamps
Simple, functional and beautiful? Interior design often talks that talk, but rarely delivers. A rare exception is this streamlined table lamp by Chinese design duo Neri&Hu. The Artemide NH1217 takes its cue from both tradition and innovation, featuring white blown glass on an adjustable frame of brushed brass that can be used as a stand, or as a wall or ceiling hook. It’s part of ongoing research by the Shanghai-based company that explores the dynamic interaction between materials, form and light. Affordable, too. £155
Dita Von Teese studio album
Dita Von Teese taught us that glamour is an art form, that champagne glasses can never be too big and that a 17-inch waist is possible (well, if it’s your job.) Now we’re learning she’s a woman of broader cultural talents, as her self-titled debut album drops later this month. Vocals are every bit as sultry, and lyrics every bit as suggestive, as you’d expect from the queen of burlesque. More surprisingly, when laid over Sébastien Tellier’s synthy production, the final product is tantalisingly cool. Pre-order expected 16th February.
Everything Here is Beautiful, Mira T Lee
Print books are rallying, publishers are working hard to increase their diversity, and stellar female writing talent is landing thick and fast this spring. One such rising star is American-born Mira T. Lee, whose debut novel Everything Here is Beautiful promises to be one of the talking points of the year. Sensitively tackling the under-explored topic of loving someone who struggles with their mental health, it’s an intimate, unflinching lesson in flawed – but fierce – family bonds. £20, available for pre-order at penguinrandomhouse.com
Gigi Hadid Nude leggings
When eco-friendly Brazilian swimwear brand SixtyNinety hit the ground running in 2015, its founders quickly realised that their body-friendly, biodegradable fabric was the perfect fit for busy women spending their lives in activewear – everywhere. The all-female company is now catering to those of us in less sunny climes with a morning-to-night sportswear range inspired by the models of the moment. These Nude Gigi leggings come with a thick waistband and ‘anti-camel toe’ panelling (finally) – all the more reason to ditch those uncomfortable jeans and embrace 24/7 sports luxe. £59
Diplodocus Egg Cup
What with all the truffle scrambles and pork belly benedicts, soft-boiled eggs have rather gone out of fashion of late. More’s the pity. An oozy yolk dunked with crisp toast soldiers is a thing of beauty, so it’s great news that this Dino-mite eggcup makes getting dippy with it sexy again. Boasting a quirky origami-inspired design in hand-fired porcelain, it will look sleek enough next to your wine glass collection (the hallmark of ‘adulting’) whilst still nodding to the nostalgia of breakfasts past. We’ve never been so eggs-cited for morning. (Sorry). £8
Smashbox Always On Lipsticks
This is the season when make-up refuses to pipe down, and we’re coveting eye-catching looks that will pack a punch for the entire day. With so many matte liquid lipsticks on the shelves, though, we need a lip colour that’s non-feathering and water resistant, in a shade to suit whatever mood we wake up in. So it’s good news that Smashbox have extended their award-winning Always On Lipstick Collections by a massive 24 new additions – the Bolder Brights and the New Nudes are our favourites. £19
Multi coloured camera
The thrill of instant photography has somewhat faded since snapping your breakfast became ‘a thing’. High-end German camera manufacturer Leica seeks to bring the magic back into spontaneous snaps with this collaboration with eccentric photographer and art collector Jean Pigozzi. The newest edition SOFORT model comes in eye-catching ‘Mr Limo’ print, the trippy logo of Pigozzi’s own fashion label. It’s way more fun than whipping out your iPhone, and the camera quality is far superior. Formaggio! £330
4 Armed Candelabra
Hygge might be over, but the joys to be found in the Scandi approach to living makes this no ephemeral love affair (see last season’s Lagom). Now we’ve gone weak at the knees again over Design House Stockholm’s Nordic Light, a classic concept with strikingly modern execution. A four-armed, adjustable candelabra, this will look just as sleek folded on the windowsill as it will spread for a stunning centrepiece. The global go-to for Scandinavian design, DHS is a team of over sixty designers, committed to celebrating the simple things in life. £67
Last Seen Online app
Tech wizard Adam Lowe and business partner Shib Hussain have succeeded where many others have failed in the last decade – to make mobile storytelling work. The first title from their London-based startup, unrd, puts interactive fiction quite literally into the palm of your hands. Last Seen Online is a chat-based mystery that uses social media and instant messaging to tell the harrowing tale of your missing friend, Amy. Instagram Stories and Whatsapp messages in real time breathe new life into the term ‘unputdownable’ – this is fiction for the digital age, and there’s no skipping ahead to the last page. Free, available for download on the App Store and Google Play
