Still not mastered the complicated art of the Kardashian contour? Then SS15’s most effortless beauty trend may well be for you.
The SS15 catwalks were awash with pared-back beauty, defined by glowing, ethereal radiance. In a refreshing change to the recent influx of impossibly complex beauty looks, the focus here is on enhancing, not altering. Caramel shades and honeyed highlights achieve a celestial glow that is so much chicer than a muddy terracotta tan, and whole lot more comfortable to wear in summery climes.
At Emilia Wickstead, a creamy pop of peach under the eyes enlivened dewy, almost iridescent complexions, while at Prabal Gurung the focus was on luminous strobing, with cleverly positioned pearly highlights tempered by a strong boyish brow.

When achieving the look at home, the key is in the technique. Go light: you want a creamy, gleaming result, not a heavy and cakey one. Begin with a really great moisturiser. For dry skin, a moisturising mask beforehand – maybe a sheet mask – will set you up for success. For oily or combination skin, a light formula such as REN’s Clarimate Gel Cream is ideal. Next, buff (not slather) a dewy foundation, such as MAC’s new Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, into skin using a firm, domed brush.
Avoid traditional flat brushes, as they’re no good for blending and tend to leave tell-tale streaks around the jawline. Now, use a gilded highlighter to pick out the contours of the face – Manasimakeup’s Lyster cream will bestow a perfect just-out-of-the-pool glisten. Simply buff it over the peaks of the cheeks and up towards the temples using a firm brush. Anchor your newly gilded complexion with strong, yet soft brows – eschew the brow pencil, and simply brush upwards, using a dense hair wax to set.
To complete the look, smooth Omorovicza’s Gold Shimmer Oil through the lengths of slick, straightened hair, and buff limbs with Prtty Peaushun’s perfecting Skin Tight body lotion – a coveted backstage essential.
