These precious rocks are known for their flawless high-shine, purity and strength which can all help aid our skin’s complexion making it a coveted ingredient and beauty buzzword for 2016.

Microfine diamond dust is the perfect ingredient for exfoliating and brightening skincare products as the crystals strengthen, removes dead skin cells and brightens skin while it’s high optical dispersion enables it to reflect, absorb and manipulate light and UV rays to emit a natural luminous glow which makes the complexion appear more youthful by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, shadows, pigmentation and discolouration. Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend.

1. Crème De La Mer Body Refiner, £80

Even the words Crème De La Mer ooze a kind of double-whipped luxuriousness, and this Body Refiner, containing a carat and a half of pure diamond powder, lives up to the hype. The tiny granuals of polished sea quartz and diamond gently polish and smooth the skin’s surface for a baby soft finish, while the nutrient-rich sea mud component purifies and rejuvenates. Massage in circular motions into damp skin twice a week.

2.  La Prairie Cellular Mineral Face Exfoliator, £88

Swiss beauty gurus La Prairie deliver a rich exfoliating gel with an extravagant roll call of ingredients: finely granulated diamond powders, quartz, tourmaline and meteorite dust all combine to buff skin and gently eliminate dead cells. The Glycerine component creates a skin-smoothing effect, protecting the skin’s natural moisture barrier, while shimmering pink exfoliating beads remove pore-clogging debris to wave goodbye to recurring blackheads and breakouts. We’re sold.

3. Label M Diamond Dust Shampoo, £20.25, and Conditioner, £22.95

Hair care aficionados Label M have infused this glossily packaged shampoo and conditioner duo with the micro-diamond complex. To the uninitiated, that’s a blend of diamond dust particles, champagne, white rose petal oil and pearl. Sounds real fancy, but does it deliver? Well, yes, the nourishing formula seals the cuticle to banish dry, fluffy ends, but is lightweight enough to avoid any greasy root situations. The super-clean feel and glossy shine is all thanks to the micronized diamonds, which help exfoliate away toxins and leave hair extra radiant thanks to their natural light reflecting properties. The obligatory hair flip never felt so good.

4. Natura Bisse White Glowing Mask, £66

What do Elle Macpherson, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus all have in common? Incredibly radiant skin and an obsession with Natura Bisse’s skincare range. While the Diamond White Glowing Mask didn’t turn us into Beyoncé overnight (sob), the light yet creamy formula worked wonders. It reduced redness, blurred out the size of pores, and hydrated troublesome skin to give a subtle dewy glow. This stuff should definitely come with a warning: contents will result in a rather large ego boost.

5. 111 Skin Celestial Black Diamond Cream, £599, and Mask, £75

Containing not just any old diamonds, but rare black diamond particles sourced from metorite craters, this most epic of mosturisers developed by top Harley Street plastic surgeon Dr. Yannis Alexandrides was developed to prevent the accelerated aging of astronauts in space as well as speed up the healing of his earth-bound patients. Yes, it really does feel incredible – which it should do for this kind of price tag. Even twenty year old scars and sun damage seem reduced. The only problem? The fear of running out! The mask is a wonderful treat at a more affordable price point.

6. Soap & Glory Wish Upon A Jar, £16

Soap and Glory’s best selling Night Cream promises to brighten, lift and smooth wrinkles. Packed full of regenerating ingredients such as ginseng and diamond dust it leaves your skin feeling like it’s had a real treat. The cream has the nostalgic smell of playdough, which isn’t too overpowering. It’s also the lowest in price of our tested creams, so won’t set you back too much. Consistency-wise it’s quite thick but melts in like a dream and you wake up with happy, radiant skin.

7. Estee Lauder RE-NUTRIV Ultimate Diamond Transformative Energy Crème, £255

Your eyes may water at the price tag, but this intensely hydrating cream is worth digging deep for. Headlining the luxury ingredient line-up is Black Diamond Truffle (read: the mother of all precious extracts) capable of tackling multiple signs of aging. It may sound decadently rich, but in practise the formula absorbs quickly with a non-greasy finish. Best of all, it does what it says on the tin, smoothing lines and firming contours for a revived, even-toned glow. Apply morning and night, using the miniature gold spoon provided to dole out just the right amount.
