Writing a travel piece on Scottsdale, Arizona for our May issue has got me thinking about dusty, cacti-framed highways, so this month I’m putting a London spin on the Old West. My part-cowboy, part-biker look hinges on hardy fabrics like denim and leather, like this hand-painted jacket by Laurie Lee – who, with a name like that, might have tumbled straight out of Easy Rider.
Pulling the whole rodeo chic ensemble together is Silken Favours’ glorious 100% silk shirt, made using traditional ink techniques and decorated with Mother of Pearl buttons
Next up, vintage-inspired jeans. Spray-on skinnies were declared dead and buried last year, but if you like a slim fit, this pair by The Kooples are a flattering cut and work a treat with SS17’s hero shoe: the backless loafer. Rivet-details carry the folky influence through to my footwear, and pulling the whole rodeo chic ensemble together is Silken Favours’ glorious 100% silk shirt, made using traditional ink techniques and decorated with Mother of Pearl buttons. Finally, packed inside Molly Shaheen’s slimline pebbled leather bucket bag are my skin and haircare essentials: Dermalogica’s Skin Smoothing Cream (best for balancing dry and combination skin types, and a favourite of Kate Bosworth) and Moroccanoil’s Treatment Light, which delivers smoothness without weighing down my colour-treated hair.
