Ain’t no party like a PHOENIX party

On Friday 14th December 2018 PHOENIX hosted an intimate club night for leading fashion and music industry figures, media personalities as well as contributors and some lucky readers at the glistening, jewellery box like Mayfair nightclub Kadie’s located behind London’s iconic Regent Street.
In honour of our autumn / winter 18 issue, The Heritage Issue, we partnered with the most iconic of Russian vodka houses Stolichnaya (Stoli to its friends) who have been distilling liquid fun from wheat and rye since 1938. Exceptional purity is achieved by using only the highest quality ingredients and quadruple filtration to create complex layers of aroma and flavour. Stoli’s company culture has always been progressive, as keen champions of LGBTQ rights and the arts, so naturally we were delighted to have their support our event – and as you can see from the pictures, they certainly know how to party!
The cocktails were devised by our friends at premium mixer brand The London Essence (LEC), who came up with the deliciously festive Christmas Rhubarb & Cardamom Highball, a lively mix of Stoli Vodka, lime, and honey water topped with LEC Rhubarb and Cardamom soda, served with a lime zest garnish. Channeling this winter’s floral trend, our Heritage Peach & Jasmine Highball comprised of Stoli Vodka and passionfruit topped with LEC white peach and jasmine soda, served with an edible flower garnish.
Tasting shots were provided by deliciously smooth Blackwell dark rum. The Jamaican company has a rich musical heritage, founded by Chris Blackwell, the man who started Island Records in 1959 and was responsible for bringing reggae to a mainstream audience, helping forge the careers of artists such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Grace Jones and U2.
The music was provided by DJ, artist and composer Disastronaut who played a classic upbeat house set to get everyone dancing.

IN THE GOODIE BAG
In the goodie bags were treats by some of the most covetable brands we know.
BLOK London
Think members club crossed with a fitness studio, one that you can drop into whenever you like, in a slick architectural space, and you get the ultra-chic gym BLOK which has a range of classes to keep you motivated, from yoga, cardio, calisthenics and HIIT, to barre, ballet, boxing, and the super fun sounding dance class Blokparty. There are now two BLOK studios in Shoreditch and Clapton.
label.m
For salon quality hair products we love label.m which was created in London in 2005 by Toni Mascolo, CEO and Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, Global Creative Director of family business success story Toni & Guy. As one of the key supporters creating looks backstage at London Fashion Week they are the forefront of the trends.
The Lost Explorer
We’re obsessed with this unisex skin brand The Lost Explorer created by trained naturopath and National Geographic explorer David de Rothschild. “At the end of every adventure there is the same realisation: that not only is nature by far our greatest mentor, but that we are Nature, and Nature is us,” he explains. All the products contain natural ingredients in potent concentrations and recyclable cardboard packaging. The company is socially conscious too – reinvesting 100% of its net profits into conservation projects.
Zigzag Tea
Promoting a more sustainable tea industry “from bush to cup”, London tea merchant Zigzag supports independent growers and boasts fully biodegradable tea bags. Fun fact – the pyramid tea bags are cut and sealed using an ultrasonic wave (sound energy) which means they do not require any plastic or heat sealing which could affect the ingredients and the flavour of the tea. Rich, evocative flavours such as Coconut Chai and Lavender, Rose & Chamomile make for a memorable tea break.
JUSBOX Perfumes
Inspired by the euphoric spirit of the acid house scene, which celebrates its 30th birthday this year, the latest offering from music-inspired, unisex perfume brand JUSBOX is named after the ubiquitous ‘Smiley Face’ emblem of rave culture. Created by music loving Florentine brother and sister duo Andrea and Chiara Valdo, CHEEKY SMILE is crammed with musky notes of amber extreme and cashmeran layered over a woody base, it’s an intensely addictive fragrance.
