For the launch of PHOENIX’s latest print edition, The Space Issue, we took over the concrete and glass Soho flagship store of trainers brand Axel Arigato, whose designs are nothing short of minimalist perfection.
DJs Skerr (AKA Sam Brown) and Fionn Mcdonald from The Ambient Zone, who curated a playlist for the The Space Issue that you can listen to here, played a mood-enhancing daytime set to shoppers on the busy Broadwick Street thoroughfare.
As night fell, DJ Disastronaut took to the decks and visual projections provided by artists Simon King and Thomas Rosser captivated the party-goers with space-themed imagery, special thanks to NASA and Britain’s Rutherford Laboratory.
Fashion and music industry guests, contributors and our readers drank cocktails provided by premium British elderflower vodka distillery Jelley Vodka named after proprietor Benjamin T Jelley (and not to be confused with jelly shots knocked back at parties in our student days). Independent local London brewery Beavertown quenched thirsts with their delicious Lupuloid IPA, Gamma Ray American Pale Ale, Smog Rocket Smoked Porter and Neck Oil IPA. We’re slightly obsessed with their current space-inspired graphic novel branding.
