Style Notes
If there’s one trend that seems to make the cut season after season, year after year, it’s layering. Big chunky cardigans layered over 90s spaghetti strap tops; a bralette casually layered over a roll neck; a slip dress layered over a pair of wide leg trousers… you get the picture. But how refreshing when a perennial trend gets a radical makeover. Spring 2017 brings us sheer, delicate party dresses layered over… well, whatever you fancy, really. Look no further than girl of the moment, Molly Goddard, on how to nail the new layering look.
How to Wear
The key piece here is a beautifully luxurious tulle frock. Goddard’s been designing them since the launch of her first collection and luckily there are high-street variations out there to suit a less-than-designer budget. Once you’ve found your hero dress, it really is up to you what you wear underneath. The more classic among us will probably choose to wear it over a printed slip dress. If you’re feeling more brave, however, try layering your tulle confection over a tank top and a pair of Adidas tracksuit bottoms, or ripped boyfriend jeans and your oldest Converse. Unexpected juxtapositions make for a match made in layering heaven.
