As the old saying goes, the future’s bright, the future’s… well, futuristic, really. This October, we’ll be shunning quaint and delicate vintage vibes in favour of high-shine, modern fabrics. Think metallics, hologram and lamé – preferably all together at once – but tailored into clean, simple lines for a grown-up look that will take you from day to night in one easy go.
How to wear
Futuristic metallics were spotted at a number of big catwalk shows, and while some designers took the trend to a fabulously bonkers level (yes you, Chanel), we loved the easy-to-wear, approachable interpretation by Christopher Kane. If you still have your metallic pleated skirt from last season (and pat on the back if you do), give it an AW update with a metallic tee and shiny biker jacket. Finish off with minimal accessories for maximum impact.
