LDN to IBZ, the Housekeeping DJs on their favourite Balearic haunts
Words Taylor McWilliams, Carl Waxberg, Sebastian MDH and Jacobi AGC
What could be more fun than staying in Ibiza with three of your mates all summer? Well, that plus getting booked to play at some of the biggest clubs on the island as part of talented British DJ collective HOUSEKEEPING. Jealous, us? Born out of a shared passion for music, HOUSEKEEPING was founded in 2012 by London based DJs Taylor McWilliams, Carl Waxberg, Sebastian MDH and Jacobi AGC. Their style of music mixes deep, funky, vocal and soulful vibes with tech house and techno and their events attract an international and eclectic crowd of likeminded individuals. Here’s their insider’s guide to 5 must-visit destinations on the island.
Playa Benirras
For a break from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town and its surroundings, head north to Playa Benirras where life passes at a much slower pace.Visit on a Sunday and you can witness the iconic Benirras sunset ritual, where bongo drummers play as the evening sun sets behind the rock of Cap Bernat in the bay.
Hï Ibiza
The most highly anticipated night club opening in Ibiza in a generation. Owners Ushuaïa Entertainment has put all their might and a substantial budget behind the opening to make sure its inaugural season is a success. Thursday nights will see the club play host to “In the Dark” – an underground concept with a strong musical focus showcasing some of the most credible names on the house music scene. South Africa’s finest, Black Coffee, will be hosting the Saturdays.
Housekeeping will be playing at Hï on 8 June, 24 June, 13 July, 5 August, 17 August, 24 August and 21 September.
El Chiringuito, Cala Gracioneta
This lesser known beach restaurant on the island’s west coast is hidden away on a small cove and serves amazing fresh food including paellas. A new mixologist this season means the cocktails are great too!
Beso Beach
A day trip to Formentera is always a good idea! Head to Beso Beach for amazing sea food and refreshing strawberry mojitos. If you come by boat, the restaurant operates a tender service which can come in very handy.
Macao Café
For a chilled mid-week break to replenish your energy reserves there is no better place than Macao Café in quiet the village of Santa Gertrudis. The outside garden is beautifully lit and has a vibrant yet very friendly atmosphere.
