Henry Holland’s self-referential collection starred slashed indigo denim, camo and punchy checks – oh, and not a slogan tee in sight

House of Holland creative director Henry Holland adopted a new – and altogether more streamlined – approach for AW18, presenting a condensed collection titled ‘Grow Up!’ at the Topshop Showspace on Covent Garden’s Floral Street. There were boxy, two-tone denim jackets, tapered camo trousers styled with oversized shearling bombers layered over retro monochrome sports jackets, and fresh floral prints with splashes of shell pink. Most striking of all was Holland’s return to his archive checks, which patterned chin-engulfing puffas and slouchy, long-line blazers belted with lengths of rope. The result? A collection that felt more mature and cohesive, but by no means boring.
