Because sometimes, stuff really can make you happy

Artisans + Adventurers Jewellery
It’s official: diamonds are no longer a girl’s best friend. Instead, look to Columbia Road jewellers Artisans and Adventures, an east London treasure trove with more beauty than bling. Bee Friedmann and Amy Fleuriot are the two inspiring women behind the minimalist aesthetic of A+A’s designs, which team traditional craft with modern appeal. All their collections are sustainably produced in collaboration with small-scale artisans and craft groups who would otherwise dip under the international radar. The result? Unique, ethical pieces with heart as well as style. Prices start from £25
Nomad Society Scented Soy Wax Candle
Not just another luxurious and beautifully scented candle (and candles are currently having a moment to rival the late nineties), The Nomad Society pride themselves on using soy wax – which sits nicely with the PHOENIX team’s commitment to conscious consumerism. But not only does the 100% ethically sourced soy wax burn cleaner than paraffin equivalents (you can bid adieu to wall-blackening soot and carcinogens), it also holds fragrances for much longer, so you can expect your pad to be filled with the invigorating scent of raspberries and peppercorns all summer long. £19.50
Frame Chain
Shades have cycled through every shape over the past few summers, but this season it’s less about the contour and more about the chain. Yes, SS17 is all about chaining your frames. Dalston duo Annie and Vanessa have tastefully revamped OAP chic to create a selection of statement chains that help revamp even the tamest pair of five-year-old shades, or bring new life to your everyday specs. They work just as well in the city as on the beach (if not better) – and they also increase your chances of holding onto your eyewear for more than a month. From £46
TUMI Tote
Whenever we want to skip an airport baggage queue, we turn to lifestyle brand TUMI – who offer seriously practical bags without compromising on style. This summer, the international travel brand has teamed up with luxury London-based swimwear company Orlebar Brown to create the ultimate beach tote. Lightweight but spacious enough for a laptop and a change of clothes, the tote has a water-resistant rubber base to keep your belongings sand and salt free. Best of all, though, it’s graced with a poolside shot of the famed Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc from legendary photographer Slim Aarons – making it an equally good spirit-lifter for a morning commute. £345
Almond Cow Milk Machine
A recent study found that a fifth of under-25s are cutting out or reducing dairy in their diet. It’s a medically controversial trend, but one thing’s for certain – for those who eschew all things bovine, stocking up on nut milks from the supermarket can be an expensive business. Perfect timing, then, for Almond Cow to launch their milk machine. The nicely designed gadget’s stainless steel blade blends pre-soaked almonds in a matter of seconds, leaving you with a whopping 1.5 litres of ready-to-drink, fresh almond milk. If you’re lactose intolerant or just prefer the light, nutty flavour of almond milk, this is an essential bit of kitchen kit. $120
Paint Your Own iPhone Case
With the newly released Samsung S8 setting a new standard for smartphone beauty, it’s time for Apple fans to raise their case game. If, like us, you’re tired of having a chunk of plastic that looks the same as everyone else’s, and find most phone cases either too expensive, too girly or too heavy and hardcore, why not try this playful paint-your-own affair? Thanks to gadget gods Kikkerland Design you can indulge in a little creativity and make a truly personal statement on your iPhone 6 for under a tenner. $10
3INA Art Theory Eyeshadow Palette
3INA have teamed up with superstar embroiderer Marie-Sophie Lockhart – whose absurdist designs have already been seen on the likes of Drake, Beyonce and Rihanna – for their latest collection. Aptly named ‘Art Freedom’, this might just be the cosmetics collab of the season. While the blusher, highlighter and eye pencils all look spot on for creating this season’s shimmery, metallic ‘club kid’ aesthetic, it’s the buildable eyeshadow palette that really caught our, er, eye. The combination of colours is delicious and the choice of tones and textures will easily take you from day to night. If you add one piece of makeup to your handbag this month, make it this. £14.95
Heat Regulating Underwear
Underwear as outerwear has been big for a while, from last season’s silk pyjamas to spring’s layered bralettes, but that doesn’t mean you should neglect the more functional stuff. Giapenta is a Miami-based, Kickstarter-launched lingerie company that wants women to raise their expectations when it comes to intimates. Its first line uses innovative high performance, fabric with TempPro technology that keeps you cool in hot weather, lowering your body temperature as the ambient heat goes up, all while helping enhance your natural shape. These pants are anything but. From $55
Rebus Signet Rings
The detail of Rebus’ Signet Rings’ engraving is so fine, it’s hard to believe it’s done by hand, and yet there’s not a laser or computer in sight at their Hatton Garden workshop. Find your family crest in their ancient tomes, design a new one, or use your initials, and their dozen strong engravers (who have each served a minimum apprenticeship of five years, with up to 42 for their longest serving staff member) will craft you a bespoke piece of jewellery to treasure forever. Rings from £620, pendants from £165, and their latest addition, mini signet pendants in 18ct gold from £1,425. This is slow fashion philosophy at its best.
