Goodbye baggy cargo pants; hello easy, breezy khaki dress

Style Notes That ever-popular summer staple, utility, may well conjure up regretful images of muddy hues, baggy cargo pants and big stomping boots. Thankfully, this season it’s returned in more of a pretty than practical guise. While there’s still plenty of khaki (did we mention that khaki is your new neutral bestie?), the attention to detail lavished on utility for SS17 transforms this classically casual trend into a smarter, dressier option, perfect for work or weekend garden parties that move from warm day into langorous night.
How to Wear
For a masterclass in this new spin on utilitarian, take inspiration from the Creatures of Comfort SS17 catwalk collection, where easy, breezy models sashayed down the catwalk in head-to-toe khaki. Silhouettes were loose but feminine, detailing was a must, and the only colour on offer came from punchy accessories and a nonchalant dash of pillarbox-red lipstick. Suddenly, utilitarian looks cool, chic and oh-so easy on the eye. This is under-the-radar peacocking at its best.
