Twenty one-year-old Northern Irishman Michael McCaughley balances his time between his profession as a viola player, and modelling with leading London men’s agency AMCK. Before our shoot, he sat an exam, and afterwards he was running off to a rehearsal.
In the next five years McCaughley hopes to play in an orchestra, however the success of his modelling career may prolong this dream. In his first Paris season, McCaughley walked for John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Costume National, and has future aspirations of walking for McQueen and shooting with Mariano Vivanco. As much as McCaughley loves modeling, he wishes designer clothes were more affordable and prefers charity shops over retail stores.
Even though his Irish accent is soft, the Siri function on his iPhone stubbornly refuses to recognise his commands. He lists not returning calls as one of his worst habits, but says he gets away with it because of his sense of humour. Our closing question: what was the last text message you received? A simple “Good luck” for his exam, but to us it seems that this likeable lad already has the luck of the Irish.
